has anyone ever had a problem with the ds going into first. sometimes, not all times, mine will shift into first then i try and take off, then it is in neutral, then i click down and it is in first for good.

 

What year DS?

Will it shift easily into first?

Does it pop out under power?

How long has it been going on?

Ever pop out of second?

I wouldn't expect it to occur in any other gear. . . is this correct?

 

ive had the same thing happen with mine. it also wont go from neutral to 1st when not running unless you rock it a little bit. what helps is if you dont pull the clutch in so far it seems to click in better when at idle.

 

dune me, it does not pop out under power, it is only in first, happening for about two weeks, it goes into first a little hard at idle

I have an '01, it will pop out of second if I don't get in in all the way. Is this a common problem? It has done it since the day I brought it home from the dealer. I just figured I wasn't getting it in all the way. I have never had a problem with any other gear.
I think the rocking that is required to get in into neutral id probobly going to be normal, every bike I have ever tried to get into neutral has been that way.

After re reading the hyflyer post I HAVE had that happen on occasion, again figured I was not getting it in all the way. Never has it poped out under power.

 

Some people have had an issue with it popping out of gear when going from first to second (usually under load). If it gets bad, it can lead to rounding off the engagement dogs. The newer shift forks of the 2003 and newer units are a little harder and don't seem as prone to this. . . but, not a common item.

 

ive had my 2000 not go into 3rd or 4th before. goin up a hill and not click it into the gear hard enough and it goes into some kind of false neutral, really sucks when racing!!
