Am in the market for an explorer 400. What are all the differences between the, say 1999 versus the 2001 explorer? I understand they eliminated the odometer/speedometer/hourmeter in 2001. That is a bummer to me!

You can still get those items at the dealership as options.

Same basic machine. I believe the 01 models have the improved brakes & tie rod ends. That's about it as far as I know (other than making the speedo/odo/hourmeter optional.

Well, just bought a 2000 Polaris 400 Explorer. Had a chance to get the 2001 but it was alot more money. Now, I have the speedometer and odometer. Got it for $4999. They wanted $5599 for the 2001. Pick it up Monday!

You made the right choice, Pete. That was a good price. It is within $50 of what I paid for my 99 last spring. Now don't just sit there, go riding somewhere!
