Default ? for predator owners

I bought a 04 predator tld. it has a pure slip on exhaust. k and n filter. I took off the carb today to see what i was running on the main. it is a 150 main. Ive noticed through my reading on here and on predatorownwers.com that many are getting better performance with a higher main jet. I ride at about 5000 feet and above. what should I try if I will be riding mostly St anthony and local trails. also, I noticed that many have a pipe that they installed between the carb and a filter. My filter is attatched to the carb with no tube. Is there a specific reason for this? thanks.

Do you still have the stock air box? And if you are do you have any holes drilled in the air box? I'm running a twin air filter that clamps on the carb, IMO this is the only way to go. I have tried the rath intake, and did not get the trottle response that I wanted. I'm running a 170 main jet, with the stock pilot jet and 3 1/2 turns out on the air screw. I will check back later for your reply.

150 is the stock main jet for sea level, there's alot of difference between 0 and air density change of 5000 feet pressure altitude. if your bike pulls good from bottom to top and has no dead spots or pops on deceleration then i'd say your running the right jetting. the only way to tell for sure is to do plug checks.

thanks for the replies. I went to the local poo dealer and bought some jets. I picked up a 160,165, and a 170. i am going to go out today and do some playing around with it. I also noticed that polaris now makes a 11-15 tooth front sprocket selection and up to a 42 tooth selection on the rear sprocket. just some info to pass along

If you go too small of a front sprocket up front will make chain start to wear into swingarm!! I'm running 13/41 with not problems!!
