Hi
I have a friend going to look at a 2002 Honda Sportrax 250 TRX tomorrow morning, it looks like a nice quad for around $1800 to $2000. is that a good price ? Any thing in particular we should look for when we see iot ? Any help is appreciated.
Thanks

Just my 2 cents: I purchased a 250ex for my wife so that we could go riding together. It does serve the purpose to get her riding with me, but I wish I forked out more for the 400ex. The 250ex is so under powered! Great beginners quad for just a few rides and you will then want more. Don't get it! Tell your friend to save a little more and get the 400ex.

Thanks for the reply, it's for his 12 year old daughter. So it should be ok for her for a year or two. We didn't get a chance to look at it today but the guy says there is an after market exhaust on it. Any idea where he could get a used stock exhaust if he did buy it ?

What did the original owner do with the stock exhaust? Its probably sitting in the corner of his garage. If not, try ebay.
Make sure the exhaust doesnt smoke blue on start up, and theres no unpleasant noises from the motor. Try for the 1800 price, because 2wd quads just dont hold their value like the 4wd ones do. but even at 2000, if its in good shape, is a decent price.
Like most hondas, its bulletproof, if the maintance was done. And the resale will be there when its time for him to sell. I had a ozark and had a blast driving it around...that 250 will be fine for her, for years to come. It wasnt that long ago, that a 250 machine was the biggest quad around. And these newer machines handle lots better. Its a great beginner machine.
