thinkin of buying a warror but its got some problems
#1
i was looking thru the local paper today and found a 1989 warrior for 800 or B.O. but it said in the discription that the cdi, coil and key switch were replaced but it would not start. im assuming that the owner would be smart enough to check the carb and everything to make shure its not a engine problem but what do you all think is wrong with it, and is it worth buying.

well he prolly replaced all the electrical stuff himself.. so it's prolly just some simple wiring porbs or wrong parts... and the carb is prolly dirty... being that it's an 89. I would buy that if i could...

I love deals like that, but don't have time to mess with them anymore. If you are a decent mechanic here is what I would do:
#1 Ask the guy if it has a fully charged battery.
#2 If not, I "might" pass on the deal.
#3 If so, go to his house with your handy dandy compression tester and pull the plug out and do a spark test first thing.
#4 If it has spark, go on to the compression test.
#5 Bad compression? Pass on the deal or talk him down you $500
Good compression but no spark? Try to talk him down to whatever and take the deal. Even if you have to put $500 into it you will have a nice warrior for less than $1500. If it has good compression most other things are cheap and simple to fix.
My buddy does this all the time and makes big bucks doing it. Got a super nice CR250 and only has 700 bucks in it!!!!
