first i was going to buy a predator, then i was thinking the kfx700, but i saw a group of trx400 and 450r come by my house so i started looking at them i was just wondering is it possible to ride a 450r in the trail or would i be better off getting the 400ex

 

Redrod rides his 450r in the woods, and loves every minute of it. I on the other hand won't take mine in the woods. So it is a question that can be answered 10 ways when asked 5 times.

Get the quad you like, and ride how you enjoy.

 

The R frame has great trail manners, but the engine likes to rev, and it is geared tall. I would never choose it for the real slow, semi-technical stuff (which is where the 400EX is at its best), but for more open, faster trails, it is a blast. You might want to consider some gearing changes, however. Would be nice if they made a TRX450X, trail version of this machine.
