2005 yamoto 50

Has anyone tried one of these out and how much better are they then the 2004 models? It seemed that the 2004 models did not want to turn very sharp, is the 2005 any better? Also looking at the Sunl 50 and info about this atv would be great and is this the same atv but just a different name as some of the others.

I just bought an 05 Yamoto 150 for my 10 yr old son last week, and I think it's a pretty nice machine.I took him on his first trail ride 2 days ago and it performed flawlessly. We rode for about 3 hrs and I swear that thing didn't use any gas.I have no complaints about the suspension at all.In fact, I'm impressed. The double a-arms soak up everything the trail could throw at it ,and my son gets a fairly smooth ride.It even tackled some small hill climbs with ease. The reverse is easy to use and works well.(The 2004's didn't have reverse)
There are some who have complained about the airbox being flimsy and bolts being cheap, but those are easy fixes. I bought a K&N clamp-on filter and prefilter for it for $37.It just came the other day, so I'll be putting it on this week.I've also heard of bolts shearing off at the sproket,so I'll be upgrading those to a stronger grade of bolt. Also, I'm no welder, but I did notice the welds look pretty sloppy on the frame. So I'll be keeping a close eye on those too.
But for what they cost, they are well worth the money.I think it's perfect for a kid to hit the trails and learn how to ride on.

I have the sunl 50. I've raved about it on this forum. Strong engine (I think it's bigger than a 50). Good suspension for a kid. The 4 speed has this circular pattern that's hard to get used to (if you keep pressing down on the lever, 1,2,3,4,N,1,2,3,4...) but kids don't shift much anyway. Very bright headlight that unfortuanately shines too high, and not on the ground.
Downside, won't turn very tightly. Also the rear sprocket seemed out of alignment and the rear sprocket would occassionally ride up on the side of the chain. Eventually adjusted the angle of the rear axle with the 2 adj screws and it seems to be doing ok now. Some have said that there's too much engine movement and are installing engine brackets to better hold the engine in place. (It's rubber mounted only from the rear).
Looking at the Yamoto 50 on the raceway sight, it looks better than the sunl in some ways. It has a much higher weight limit, looks wider, and is faster if the top speed of 38 is correct (man that's fast on a 50).
Overall, I definately recommend the sunl 50 which is the same as the Redcat FX-55.

38mph if you push it off a cliff maybe. A lot of these companies claim top speeds their machines can't hit. Why? Sales.
On average, most non-restricted 50's max out about 20mph.

Where is the guy from the raceway sight, he should know if these are better than the 2004 model.

I bought the new 2005 yamoto 50 and I wanted to see what the top speed really was. I grabbed my gps and headed down the road. I got it up to 32 mph and I am 210lbs. So with a young kid on it, it will diffently do 38 maybe more. Its is very cold blooded, is this just because it not broke in yet or is there a trick to get these bikes to start faster?
