Winch problem on BF, Need help troubleshooting
#1
I have had a Warn 2500 winch installed on my Brute Force 750 for a few months now, it has been working great. Yesterday I got stuck and had to use my winch and it wouldn't work. I checked all the wiring looking for shorts or other problems. After not finding any problems I tried the winch again and it worked. I tried the winch several other times during the day and only once would it work.
When I got home I more closely examined the wiring and couldn't find a problem and the winch wont work at all now. It seems to me the problem must either be in the in/out switch, the contactor, or where I spliced into the 12v ign wire with a wire tap. I am stuck on what to do next. Where do I start and what is the best way to go about trouble shooting the problem?

I had the exact same thing happen to me. On mine it turned out to be the connector box. When it first started I could hit the in out switch and it would just click. Some times it would work other times it wouldn't and finally it just quit. I think warn has a good warrenty but you will have to find an authorized service department. To get mine fixed for free I would have had to completely remove the entire thing and mail it off. They wouldn't look at it on the quad which ticked me off and it they have to remove anything it will cost you. I never use mine so needless to say my quad just has a little extra weight to help keep the front end down.
