#1
Hi im new to these forums and i just bought a new kfx 700 vorce molten silver the other day. I love it but im ready to upgrade with a dual exhaust. I dont know which exhausts are the best. does anyone have a preference on whats the best? I also want to change the primary clutch spring but i dont know which one to go to. does anyone know which is the best? I would like it to be very fast but i also need to ride some trails to, i want to go as fast as i can with also being able to tame in on the slow ride trails as well. I would really appreciate your guys help thanks.

sweet man, congrats on the new V. I just recently bought mine also.
I have done quite alot of research about these very things and I hope i can be of some help. First things first, as far as exhaust goes the Muzzy system seems to be the best bang for the buck by far. Its a single muffler design though, if you want to spend more $$ then I would go with the DMC dual Aliens. From what I have read, which is alot, they are very hard to beat and have a sweet sound from the videos i've seen. I have only heard the muzzy system in person, and it sounds nice. I think i'm going wih a muzzy system myself when i save up some more money.
Now, the clutch spring is a very important factor in rideability on trails, and your mods have alot to do with what spring would work the best. If you want to spring it now, and pipe it a little later on, i'd reccomend a spring like the EPI Pink that has no stall, but a much higher shiftout than stock. I had it in my quad for about a day and liked it but i decided on more stall, and I already had an EPI Red so I just dropped it in. So far i love the red spring, but when i do a little more extensive mods my plan is to go with the dalton orange/blue spring. Its got a little less stall than the EPI red, and has a shiftout like the EPI pink, and with a piped V I should be able to takefull advantage of the higher shiftout.
So in short, id try out a couple springs. If you are going to be riding technical trails I wouldnt go with anymore stall than about 30 or so, and until you get the pipe its not worth having more shiftout than about 140-150 (stock is 122).
I realy like the EPI Red spring right now, its got quite a bit of stall, but here is the thing about stall, you dont even notice it after a while. Its only been in my quad for a few days and I already am totally cool with the stall. I ride some pretty technical stuff on occasion, and from my experience, I would not go with anymore stall than what I have now.
That is my advice to you, id go with a Dalton Orange/Blue and a Muzzy with a K&N and some minor airbox mods, and you should be in great shape man. That is what I plan on doing as soon as I get some more $$ or my birthday rolls around, whichever comes first.
Hope this helps some!

Thanks for your info i could use this information wisely. I am prolly deciding on hmf duals or aliens. I am still skiptical on the clutch spring. How much different riding does the stall make? Is it a lot different when you take off? I think that the stall would take a lot of the take off and takes away from slow cruising speeds. These are just some more questions that i have. Has anyone heard anything about the epi maroon spring on the v?

the difference between the stock spring and the EPI red is pretty drastic as far as take off goes. The stock spring engages right off idle, where as the red engages up the RPM band a little, making it more a sudden jerk. If you want to creep over rocks and things, then go with VERY little stall, or none at all.

on paper the Maroon is just like the pink, only more shiftout. I'm not certain, but the pink is where the sweetspot is for the V's.
In my opinion, I like for there to be some stall though, so a spring like the Dalton Orange/Blue would be the best bet. If you dont want stall, then the Pink or the Maroon should do the job nicely.

The stall is something that you will not even notice after riding for a few minutes. I have played with a bunch of springs and everyone seems to get worried about to much stall. I am not sure were glasgow is but if you are at all close to St. Louis you are more than welcome to try out any of the extra springs I have. I have the dalton blue, the epi pink, and the polairs brown that I am no longer using.

Thanks, but which spring are you currently using, and how much stall does it have. Was there much difference between the epi pink and the dalton ones you had? Do these springs help top end performance and what about doing wheelies is it harder to do them with different springs?

What about the cdi from dyna, does it increase the power across the entire band as it does on the p700. My son is in the Air Force Reserve and he wants to increase the performance of the V when he gets home, this thread is really interesting considering he wants to do the same mods. Thanks.

I am runnning the dalton orange/blue. I also have a 730cc big bore kit from Fundy so I needed a bit more shift out. The blue and the pink spring are pretty darn close to the same. Both helped performance all through the power band and they really do a good job of getting rid of the wall that all stock v's have once they reach about 30mph or so.
