sportsman speedo doesnt work
#1
Im new to the polaris family , just recently bought a sportsman 500 remington special edition. The only thing wrong with it is the speedo doesnt work. I went to my polaris dealer and he said it might be a sensor on the right front wheel , took it apart and looked at it , cleaned it and seen nothing wrong with it. Is this a problem with polarises? Has anybody else had this problem???

Yea I have heard of quite a few going bad. Mine stopped working so I took it off and cleaned it and it started working again. Then it stop again took it off and cleaned it and it still didn't work. So I was going to order one but it started working again in the middle of a trail ride and has worked ever since.

When I first start it up (cold) it reads around 40 at idle and 55 to 60 while riding down the road. After its fully warmed up it reads around 10 at idle and around 25 to 30 while riding down the road.

I'm on my third Hall sensor.
Easy to replace and $43 at polarisOEMparts.com or $55 from your local dealer.
Your dealer should have known if its bad or not and the other posibilities, there is a testing proceduer.
If only the speedo is out on the pod that is most likely your problem.

I took mine off and cleaned it with some wd-40. Send me your email and I will send you a page telling you how to test the hall effect sensor.
