how much oil does the 400ex take it says in the manual 1.95 qts so i put in 2 and it is only halfway on the dipstick

 

After the oil change let it idle for a couple of minites then check it.

 

On page 140, it says 2.3 qts. On page 100 notice that is says to fill the tank with 1.95 qts. (all that it will hold!), start the engine for 5 min. Stop the engine and let it sit for a few minutes. Then top it up to the top of the dipstick. Should be aprox. 2.3 qts. total.
