Default 400L Too loud! Help silence it!

Anyone got any suggestions on how to shut my 1994 400L up?

It's got a "Proma" muffler on it, which despite repacking it is still almost deafening!

it needs to be used in noise sensitive areas (near farm animals etc) so I really need to quieten it down ASAP.

Would buying a new stock muffler make it quieter?

Any suggestions on the quietest exhaust system would be appreciated!

PS are 4-stroke quads much quieter?

It seems like a race spec pipe on it, as it has a muffler that separates from the expansion chamber... all the ones I've seen that are standard appear to have the muffler permanently attached, is this right?

Also, there is no spark arrestor or other baffle in the pipe at all (they're not a requirement in the UK, forest fires are very rare!)

I'm even considering making a new muffler for it and just using the connection from the current one, but I'd rather just replace it with a nice quiet one!

Anybody tried to shut one of these beasts up?
