Scrambler 400 jetting
#1
What is the correct jet for my 2002 Scrambler 400? I put an HPD trailpipe on it this winter. The jet I put in it worked excellent in the cold weather, but since it's warmed up outside, the Scrammy wants to fall on it's face when I gas it. I live in central Illinois, not sure of the elevation, but probably 500-1000 feet (just a guess)

Hey Joe. I would say a 260-270 main jet should do the trick. Maybe a little rich too but you would just have to do plug checks to be certain. Does it fall on it's face at wide open throttle (WOT) or somewhere in between?

Good to see ya again Shawn.
When I get on the throttle it takes a bit to respond. I always shut the gas off when I park it for the day, the other day I forgot to turn it back on when I started it. I gassed it and it was a whole different bike, I had to get off the gas 'cause the front came up, that hasen't happened in a while. I turned the gas back on and it was back to bein' sluggish.
I don't recall what jet I'm runnin right now.

What main jet did you end up running? A 260 would probably be a good jet to go with. It would hurt cleaning the carb a little when you have it out to re-jet. Make sure to check all of your vent lines too.

Cool, thanx guys, I'll try the 260........I just cleanrd the carb this winter, but it's probably a good idea to do it whenever I have it apart
