Can anyone tell me what the boost bottle is? How does it work? Does it do something?

Your going to hear a thousand differnet answers and opinions on this one. The boost bottle is a tube, or bottle, that is connected to booth intakes of a multiple cylinder two cycle engine. The purpose is to equalize the pressure between the two carbs. A boost bottle does very little to the perfarmance of the engine. On the dyno, there is no gain what so ever. However, many people do report better throttle response. IN my opinion and expereince they are unnecessary. A stock cross over tube is just fine. Every engine builder will tell you the same except duncan, and that is because they make a boost bootle.

I agree with the above answer. More correctly described as a balance tube, it evens out the vacuum pulses so that each carb is getting equal vacuum all the time, not just when the cylinder it feeds draws it. Remember that a two stroke motor relies heavily on scavanging exhaust gasses to help draw in a fresh fuel/air mixture, so anything that helps to keep that mixture flowing helps throttle response at lower rpms. At higher rpms, where a two stroke generally(and especially Banshee's) makes good power, the mixture is moving pretty good and doesn't need a whole lot of help.
So the balance tube is really just that, a tube. It doesn't really need to be anything spectacular, but, if they call it a Boost Bottle, and claim improved throttle response, they can make money. Save your money for something else, like gas and oil. Let's go ride!
