Default 400ex Valves

What kind of damage could be done to an engine if you don't adjust the valves when you probably should?

I was wondering the same thing? And how to do that also? Is it hard?

It's not hard. There are two ways. The first way is to take everything off to get to engine (seat, plastic around gas cap, plastic fenders, gas tank, barrier between gas tank and engine.
Or if you know how to adjust valves and don't need direct line of sight you can reach under and unscrew the four silver dollar sized valve covers.
I suggest buying cylmers repair manuel for that quad. It gives step x step.

Engine has to be top dead center with valves closed. The front right exhaust valve will probably be stuck so while rotating engine to get top dead center you would want to work it back and forth to un stick it.

Check the valves at the end of every season while your changing oil, draining carb, etc.
I personally haven't have to make hardly any adjustments on my 03
