Default Comparison: Web Cams vs. Hotcams on P650/P700

I recently installed some Stage 1 Hotcams on my P650, and I have gotten lots of questions about the differences between them and the Webcams. So I did a little checking around and discovered the following comparison info.

Hotcams...STAGE 1

LIFT:
.263" (6.7mm) & .311" (7.9mm)
DURATION:
205 degrees & 214 degrees
RETAIL COST:
$340 with NO exchange required and NO hardened rocker arms recommended

Web Cams

LIFT:
.324" & .333"
DURATION:
236 degrees
RETAIL COST:
$235 With CORE EXCHANGE REQUIRED
PLUS its recommended to get their hardened rocker arms at a
total price of $260 With CORE EXCHANGE REQUIRED (total cost for everything is $495 with core exchange)

Well, there you have it. Looks like you get more lift and duration with the Web Cams, but it also costs more if you get everything they recommend.

Wish I would have known that before I had the hotcams installed. Ogh well I'm still happy with the stage 1 hotcams, gave me what I wanted which was more mid and topend power.

Fastfatboy,
I still haven't gotten to try out my quad with the hotcams installed (still putting it all together). Can you please tell me how much faster your P700 goes at top-speed with the Hotcams installed? If it didn't improve top-speed, then I'm sure it goes from 0 to top-speed quicker, right?

Sorry to take so long to answer been real busy lately. The cams only gave me a very small gain on top. BUT it pulls to top speed alot better than before. When I had the cams installed I also had a dynajet kit put in, what a waste of money. It was WAAYYY to lean with the largest jets they sent and I am going to completely start over with larger pilots, shimming the needles, and different mains. But I love the cams and when it's on it runs like a bat outa hell as you probably know by now. My air fuel mixture srews backed out the other day so I plugged the holes and had to ride a couple of miles back to the truck and the thing ran like a jet with no mixture screws in it. I'm waiting on my dealer to get them in then I will start rejetting the whole thing myself, with help from a good friend, and get it right this time. If it runs as good or better than it does with the mixture screws gone I will be VERY PLEASED.

Thanx for the feedback! I hope to get my quad back together soon and see how it will run with the Hotcams and Wiseco pistons. I'll report back as soon as I can test it out.
