What are the DB limits for sand mountain?

Not an issue.
Take Hwy 80 to Reno and drive on through. . .
Exit in Fernley towards Fallon.
Fernley to Fallon about 30 to 40 minutes.
Through Fallon past Salt Wells and look for a marker on the right of the hwy.
About 30 minutes out of Fallon and you'll take a left turn.
Head up the gravel road and find a spot to camp.

From Elk Grove about 2.5 hours to Reno, 1/2 hour more to Fernley, 1/2 hour more to Fallon, 1/2 hour more to Sand Mt. Yet, always seems to take 4.5 hours to make the trip. Oh well. . . 5 minutes here 5 minutes there, fuel, etc.

I will sometimes take the more scenic route up Hwy 50 around the lake, through Carson City, and over to Fallon. Its about the same distance mile wise, but I would recommend taking Hwy 80 if your pulling a larger trailer.

I like to head up Hwy 80 and sometimes I will come back down Hwy 50. Coming down the hill you don't have to deal with the slow big rigs that can really back up traffic heading up the hill. Coming from Sacramento or the bay area, Hwy 80 is probably your best bet. If you like a little more scenery and are not in a big hurry give 50 a try on your way home.
