Don't know about the newer ones, but my 95 Ranger is still running strong. 175,000 miles, 1 new clutch and a new timing belt were the major expenses other than tires, tune ups and oil. My friends keep asking when I'm going to tade it it, but there's nothing wrong with it, so I keep on driving.

I doubt you could go wrong with any of the smaller p/u's. Unless you get a lemon.

4-cylinder? P U is right, unless it's a tacoma. That 2.7 has some spunk!

I know you said 98-03 but I have a 94 Toyota that has treated me pretty well.It has the 22 RE/4X4/4CYL/5 SPD/2.4 L.It's been a good truck 126,000 miles. It has went through one starter/radiator.The radiator sides are made of plastic, not a great design IMO.The timing set will take a dump at 100,000 like clock work.
