I have an oil pressure gauge mounted and I was looking for a wire to tap into for the illumination of the gauge. I don't want to tap into the ignition wiring or the tach and the only other wire I can see is the headlight wiring. Which wire did those who added a illuminated gauge hook up to?


one other thing is the oil sensor a 1/8 NPT thread?

 

Tap into the head light wiring, either the green or the blue. That way the gage lights come on and go off with the headlights.

 

Are both the Green and Blue power? or is one low beam and the other high beam?

 

Yes.

 

Green is low beam, blue is high beam.

 

Correct. that is where I would tap for the gage. The onlt problem I see, if you tap the low beam, the gage will go off when you switch to high beam, and vise versa.

 

Oops, never thought of that. So here's the solution: The tan wire coming from the light switch is for the tail light, it's on regardless of high or low beam.

I don't recall seeing a tan wire but I'll look again. I also see an option of taping into both the blue and green and connecting them to the positive of the gauge? or would that turn both the low and high on at the same time?
