Default new scrambler....what mods will improve?

hey guys, wondering if you all could help me out...Just got a scrambler 500. i ride in north NJ. So most of the trails are rocky. I am looking for advice on how to get the most out of my scrambler for my uses. After a proper break in, I plan to at least do a clutch kit, perhaps an air filter. I do not want to risk reliability too. Am I on the right track? I hear some people really get alot out of tires....Anyone knowanything about stock scrambelr tires??? COuld I improve? any suggestions? I really appreciate your advice!

Welcome, a clutch kit is a must. A personally have a Hot Seat, but many other guys on here have HPD. I like the Hot Seat one, and just a week ago I helped a friend put in an HPD agressive kit in a 500 Scrambler & there was no difference to me. His seemed to pull just like mine. A K&N is a good choice, but it really does nothing for performance. However, anything is an improvement over the stock paper element. Pipes are up to the individual also, I have a WB e-series & it's o.k. You don't see much of a gain on the 500's by piping them. I got mine for dirt cheap ( $50 ) so I don't really care that it didn't do much for power. It sounds very nice though, not too loud, just deep & throaty.

As far as tires, if it's really rocky stick with the stockers for now, unless money is no issue.

The single best thing you can do to a 500 Scrambler is put a TEAM roller secondary clutch on it and a primary spring that gives you the engament you want and raises your top rpms a little. You notice much from a pipe or filter but the WB does make it sound great.I dont like a 500 with an aggressive clutch kit because they engage too high and you tend to loose some of the lowend torque.

Same advice here. The stock tires are great. I would spend the money on the K&N filter, clutch, and then exhaust, in that order The filter is just a needed item so you don't have to keep replacing the stock one when it gets dirty.
