i was thinking about buy a 400 ex and i was wondering what should i check on it and what will go wrong with it?

 

Axle bearings are the weakest link. Stand it up and look at the bottom of the frame, if its smashed flat walk away.

 

Should it be smooth and rounded instead? I'll be getting an EX soon too hopefully......

 

well i got mine for a real good price..and the person before me beat it up a lot...the a-arms and all that stuff under the motor was really banged up cuz he use to drive over stonewalls with it...but make sure that the oil plug is ok and its not leaking oil..check the chain/rotor make sure they are ok...also make sure the front tires arent really bent in or out... see if there is any crap in the shocks and stuff..but really you should be fine cuz honda 400ex's last pretty much forever if they were maintain just a little...check out my pics mine was total trashed when i got it..i cleaned it up and dropped about 300 bucks into it already and it looks great...
