Hey all, i have a quick question. I think i rember seeing something about a 700efi ranger, i thought i saw some pics that someone took at the 05 polaris show a few months ago, but i cant seem to find them. Anyway i checked out the polaris website, and all they have listed is 500cc model, Does anyone know if the 700efi is in the ranger?
Thanks in advance

Polaris just came out with a 2005 Special Edition XP Ranger that comes with a 700 EFI engine. I know this, because I have one. Since owning one for about a month now, I've only ridden it twice. The first time I took it out, the ECU took a dump...It wasn't good. The wife and I broke down in the woods about 3 miles from our truck. To say the least... she wasn't very happy. We managed to get it started about a half/hour later and headed back. After a couple miles down the road, it shut down again. Fortunately, the second time we got it started, we got to a point in the trail that was downhill and when it died the third time, we were able to coast the rest of the way down. Took it to the dealer the following day and that's when I was told that the ECU was defective. Got it back about a week later and had no other problems since. I got to hand to the service dept. at Pure Sports in Rohnert Park, Ca.. They were good to me. Anyway... just for the peace of mind, I did purchase an extra ECU that I 'll be mounting somewhere under the hood just in case. Other than that, It's a beast!

i saw one last Fall at my local Polaris dealer. the 700EFI is a different shade of green, olive like the Sportsman6X6. the regular Ranger is dark green. i liked the looks of the olive and the idea of EFI in a Ranger sounded neat. i did not like the price. my dealer wanted LIST, no discount. needless to say he wasn't able to sell it! he ended up swaping it out to another dealer up North..........that means he let it go at COST!!LOL (stupid) if he had offered me a discount, i would have bought it. (i won't pay list price for anything. NO WAY. i work WAY to hard for my $$)
anyways, EFI was a neat idea on Polaris's part for a Ranger. sorry to hear you had a problem with yours westca707. and BTW, WELCOME to the forum! GREAT place to meet a GREAT Polaris group!

That surprising... Most dealers to this day have them pre-sold well in advance of arrival and many are selling them above list. I guess you're just in a bad market for Rangers or we're in a really good one! Anyway, once they become a regular model and not limited production (if that happens) I'm sure dealers will deal on them like they do the regular Rangers.

i've tried a few times to get to the point of a purchase, but $500 off list doesn't seem like a good deal.
oh well, maybe the 2006's will be offered with a 800EFI motor...........now THAT would be the cat's meow!! think about it.....ooooooooh yea!!!!!!!
