I picked up some oil , filter & AGL fluid today at my local dealer. I asked him for some Polaris Hub fluid and he said they use ATF because the polaris stuff was over priced. I forgot to ask what type of ATF fluid. [Note: my confidence in info from my dealer is low]

At the time I wasnt to worried about changing the hub stuff anyway but later on today I was riding near a lake and rolled my 2005 500 H.O. off a bank and landed upsidedown in about 4 feet of water. I was able to recover with my winch and a buddy towed me back home.

I found out what to do about the water problem in the forum but , the ATF question ;I could not find a recent post covering model 2005's

I don't know the answer to that, but most synthetic ATF products cover a lot of different transmissions. If I were going to attempt that, it's what I would use. I'm guessing for the price, it's what Polaris uses.

Most guys use Mobil1 Synthetic ATF but any Synthetic ATF will do....

I wish I would have known that, I bought the Polaris Brand 9 dollar bottle of hub fluid. Oh Well, its only money right?
