Default How do I fix this?

The Pictures are in my photos. I dont know how to post a pic in here.
It happened this weekend in Bulls Gap. Wasnt jumping or anything, I guess just wear and tear.
I have no idea how to fix this and the dealers want 85 an hour to fix it and wont even tell me how much it cost to fix it until i pay 85 bucks for inspection.

It takes a while for the mods to approve your pics. I'm sure some knowledgeable folks on here can point you in the right direction.

If you have decent mechanical apptitude, get the service manual and start reading. Most of this isn't TOO tough if you have a little skill, some good tools and a bit of patience (along with the manual.)

Looks like you need a new CV half shaft and boot assembly. I hear they are about $285 fom the deler.
It should'nt be too hard to do.

85 an hour and 85 for inspection??? WTF man? Sounds like the dealers around you are some price gougin ****'s. I dont understand how that happened. Did it happen on both sides at the same time? I dont understand how both axles pulled out of the CV's unless your front diff has broken loose allowing for them to move. You need to find that problem first. I dont think you need new half shafts, I would go get the new boots and grease, clean out your CV's with parts cleaner and put them back together. Youre gonna need to disassemble the front hubs to do this so you might want to go ahead and put new inner and outer seals in it while you have it apart. Get a manual if your not familiar with the front end of this quad. I got mine off ebay for $15

Im not sure how it happened. My girlfreind rides it while i ride my new predator le. She just started complaining that she couldnt turn the wheels anymore so I looked at it and seen on the right side the boot was torn up. We turned around and went back but we were 9 miles deep in the woods so it took a while and by the time we got back it looked like both were broken. jimmypsp700, is it 285 per side or for both? I have to warn myself that I am not very mechanically sound and I would hate to buy the parts and put it together wrong and break it again. I did this before on other projects I thought I could do. I am a computer geek so the wrenches are not my best of freinds. I do all of my basic maintenance but thats it. I just changed the A-arm bushings in it before I left for the trip. Maybe I put something back to gether wrong and broke it. If its like 285 a side plus labor I bet its over 1000 bucks to fix at the dealer. Whats a 2000 polaris scramber worth? 3000 at best? I can follow directions good so maybe with the service manual I will be ok? ANy locals here want to make some extra doe?

I realized that. I named the pictures as I was looking at it from the front instead of the proper way of as sitting on the bike. Sorry for the confusion. Im thinking the same thing as you "someone else should make the repair". Im not to proud to admit when I am over my head in repairs which isnt very deep.

retail for the shafts are 269.99 each. I'm sure once they get in there they are going to want to replace some seals and stuff too. This is a big job. The shafts are pinned in on the case side and you have to take apart the 4wd hubs to get the axles out. I don't think you should attempt it unless you are sure you know what your doing. I'd guess at least a grand to have it fixed. somebody may know the billing hours on a half shaft replacement to help you get a closer estimate. Before you take it in be prepared to spend between 800-1500 bucks. Looks like she was running hard with the 4wd engaged.

Hoopie, Don't feel bad about not being able to fix it yourself, you don't have to be a mechanic to enjoy riding. Good luck to you. If you decide it's not worth fixing and want to sell it let me know.
