I may be going to look at an '02 P650 in a few days and need some advice on things to look for. Most of my ATV's have been Polaris and I know some things that are specific to them, so I'm assuming you guys have seen similar wear or failure items on the Prairie. Any specific things wear at a certain mileage? He hasn't sent pics yet, and needed to check the mileage, but at $3800 I think it's priced right. He said it has a Pro Circuit exhaust and ITP C-series wheels w/Mudlites.

I'm on my way this afternoon to pick it up (5hr round trip). The pics look great, 46 yr old one owner, never been in mud. After further conversation and pics...it has the Holeshot ATR tires on C-series...are they any good? The Pro Circuit T4 is just the silencer, and it has a K&N and re-jetted. Does the silencer swap help much on this bike? I'll have a ton of questions after I get it, so I'll start searching old threads. I know I want to change the belt, since it's the original, and maybe change the spring.

Best bet is to do a compression and or leakdown check. Check/smell the oil to make sure it doesen't have a gasy smell. if oil has a gasy smell and owner never turned off his gas after riding, theres a good chance you need to replace the choke cable/spring assemblies. Pop the CVT cover and look for debris & check your belt and deflection. If its been in the mud good chance there will be a waterline in the CVT and or Recoil starter.

I'd change all the the oils, fluids, (differentials also) filters (Clean or replace the air fliter) and put in a fresh set of plugs just for GP.

The holeshot ATRS are great on the front & trails, improves handling. but, are not a mud tire. If your're into mudding get you some MudZillas, Gators, or Mudmachine Triclaws. I'd also ask if he has the stock rims to throw in.

Also first chance you get get you a Dana FS CDI, and a Dalton orange/blue primary spring!!! You'll then have a "Whellie Monster 650" that will hang with the "BIG BOYS"
