Default Oil pressure sensor/Coolant fan

Hello. Last weekend i went riding with my 2000 DS650 at MayBrook, NY. I heard of the fans fuses going bad but the fan does turn on when the oil gets hot, just to hot. As i was riding about an hour into the day my oil light went on i shut my quad off for about 5 min let it sit and then went on my way agian, yet this kept happening in 15 minute spurts through-out the day. I have red anti freeze in my radiator however i also have green... my friend told me that if the two colors mix they cause a gel which may be causing my motor to over heat and oil light come on considering the gel may be backing up. My fan did go on when i would ride, so idk. Anyway does anyone know where the oil temp sensor is that tells the fan to turn on? if so can i adjust it to make the fan go on at an earlier temp like 180 as aposed to 230. How do i adjust it? and one last thing should i change my oil since its summer now and if i do what wieght oil should i use? thank you, RickyDS650

look just behind the radiator on the right hand side of the engine you wil see a brass hex nut with wires on it , that is the temprature switch that opens or closes when your engine colant reaches a set temp (cant remember off hand what it is) and turns the fan on and off, the thread is M14 if you go to an auto part store they can probably supply you one with a lower set temp than the one you have (set point is stamped on it).

I havent heard of different coulers of coolant causing any problems, but if in doubt just drain it out and fill up again coolant is cheap and waters free.

when it is running and overheats does the radiator it self feel burning hot ?? if not the internal thermostat valve could be failing to open ?

how hot is your ride area and are you in open or slow tight trails?
