sorry i hit the post message too soon ok i just called the dealer for the yfz 450 they said it was a very high matiance bike and that you have to re ring the piston every 50 hr ? how much does this cost is it a big hassle

The dealer may have meant that you need to rebuild them every 50hrs or so if you are running them hard like racing... But as far as trail riding and stuff i wouldn't worry about it..

 

if you stay in the high rpms count on it. depending on what riding style you have is if you'll have to rebuild that quickly.

 

you know what i doubt that fast you will haveta i have a friend that has a yz450 bike and hasnt yet to rebuild his and he had it forever and with this every 50hrs i think is BS i'm almost at 50 hours on mine and no way do i need to rebuild anything in mine, if so then i guess the warranty will cover it because its before 6months i think that was a lie in itself... i can understand if you race like every second the bike is turned on but come on where's the fun in that...

 

If you are a racer, then possibly.
For the ave Joe, I'd say 100 hours is a pretty good number.
However, I think I'd be replaceing the piston as well. Not just the rings.

 

even at 100 hrs? why is this? so that means the avg joe has to do there rings every 50-100hrs on raps and shees?
