I have been looking at these in the catalogs and online for 2 weeks now. I want the trunk only. I don't want the kind that has a seat with it.

There are so many to choose from. The problem is that in the catalogs and online you really can't see inside. You can't see any of the details. I don't know what to look for anyway. Can they be too tall? Some are 19" tall. Some are 14" tall, and some are 11" tall.

The MTS rear trunk hangs off the back of the quad giving the driver more room to move back on downhills. Is this better?

Please tell me about yours. Tell me about others you've seen in person. Which aspects of these trunks are better than others? What things do you wish you had on your trunk?

Right now I've got a plastic container from target strapped on my quad. It does the job just fine and only costed about $7. I don't even know how a trunk would be better than what I have now. Tell me in what ways an ATV trunk would be better for all that money.

For $200 plus or minus, I don't want to buy the wrong one.

I have this cargo box from Cabelas. You can either bolt it to the rack with u-brackets or just strap it on. I bolted mine on and it's very solid. You can strap things to the top of it. There are holes around the outside edge of the box that you can hook bungee cords too. My 7 year old who weighs 90 pounds sat on top of it when I first got it and the box didn't flex at all. The lid is held down by two solid elastic cables that you can adjust the tension on. I've had it for 6 months and they have not lost any tension yet. You can lock it on both sides of the lid (2 locks). It makes a nice back rest when stopped but doesn't hinder your riding. It hasn't leaked water but it has let dust in. The seal that came with the lid isn't very good so I added a wider, thicker weather seal to it and it's fine now.

At 10 inches high, I think the heighth is just right. I didn't want a big bulky box or a short box. My brother-in-law has one with a seat from Cabelas and he's not real fond of it. He likes the seat portion but there isn't a whole lot of storage and the way the lids are held shut is pretty cheesy. It does the job for him and for the price he got it for, he couldn't beat it (he didn't pay retail; business relationships). If he had to do it again, I don't think he would buy this particuler one again.

I looked at a lot of different cargo boxes too before I bought this one and for the price, it was hard to beat. I would buy it again. There are pictures of it on my quad in my photo gallery.[

Jeff - I am glad you posted this topic because after going through two atvlogic soft bags I am going to buy a hard storage box/trunk for the rear rack also and wasn't sure which one I liked. I was looking at a few of them but just as you said was worried about getting one to tall or bulky.

I like how it opens from the back. I like the super soft back rest. It looks like the best size for me.

Check my pictures if you want to see the "Kimpex Deluxe Box" on the Sportsman. I really like mine, lots of storage, tough plus I also added an LED tail and brake light to mine. I will fit inside the rear rack extentions and is back far enough that I have to slide back on the seat to use the back rest...

 

ya but people don't always like to do that, it's alot easier just to make a correct link which opens up a new window. just take the extra few seconds and do it right which will in return allow more people to look at the link, alot of guys/gals just don't want to take the time to copy and paste when they can just click right?
