I do have there pipe but thats it!! I haven't come across people here that have a 400 and have had LRD done motor work. The only thing that I can say is that I'm VERY pleased with there pipe.

Unfortunately, My family has had bad experiences with LRD. I currently have a '99 440EX that I have been racing in Oregon since I bought it back in August of 1998. My dad also races with me and decided to put a full race 440 kit by LRD in it around February of 1999. They oversized the valves, bored and sleeved it, put a full race cam in it, installed a 11:1 Wiseco piston, and added a larger carb from a Harley. $2000 later, the thing ran like crap. There was nothing but problems with it. The throttle was way too hard, it never started when it was cold(no choke), it consistently burnt oil, and on and on. Just about 3 months ago they wanted to do a follow up on their work, so we scheduled a time. They went ahead and installed a new 13:1 JE piston, re-sleeved and bored it because they said the piston was cracked, they installed a new cam because they said it was flat, and added their full race pipe, and they blamed all the defects on lack of changing the oil. Every other race the oil was changed, so I know this had been caused by something else. $1800 later, the thing runs a little better, but not much. I have a 440 kit in mine with a mild cam, 11:1 piston, and pipe, and mine stays right with it. It only cost me $700. They did allow a $250 trade in on the crappy carb though. Now they want to put a $500 FCR carb on it. He also had them re-valve his rear shock, which collapsed and lost its fluid on his second race. If my opinion were to be expressed, I would tell everyone not to be associated with them for anything. Why pay $175 for their cam when you can get it for $150 straight from their supplier, Webcam. They are overpriced and unfair. There are a lot of other good companies out there.

LRD did a full race 440 motor for me with 13:1 piston, full race cam, big valves, 39mm FCR carb, race exhaust. My bike runs like a raped ape. It always starts and I beat Raptors and Bombardiers in drag races @ Sand Mountain in Fallon Nevada. The only MAJOR recommendation i can make is have your rocker arms HARD FACED. I didn't on my first motor and the heavy springs and high lift cam ate up one of my stock rocker arms and cam.

It really doesn't matter who you go to because your either gonna get screwed or your not!! Your luck of the draw. Just to say that you did have a problem and went back to the person that did it, all there gonna say " We've done these several times and never had a problem before!!" It really doesn't matter (to me anyways)

norcalatver... I was thinking about that 13:1 piston but was told I would have to ring it every 20 or 30 hours. How often do you ring?

I have probably 100hrs. on my 440 and have not re-ringed my bike yet. The reason I went with the 13:1 piston is for more torque. I had an 11:1 piston in my other 440 engine and it seemed a bit more powerful in top end race speed, but this engine has an incredible amount of low end. The only thing I miss is a choke on the carb. The FCR has no choke and is difficult to start very first thing in the morning if the temp is below about 40 degrees or so.

Let me know the next time you go up to the mountain. I live in Auburn. Ca so the mountain is only a couple of hours away. The group that I ride with have a few highly moded 400s a couple of sick 250rs and an extremly moded lakota. I havent been there in a while so that may be why I haven`t seen you. You bike sounds pretty quick. I have yet to see a 440 in action so let me know when your next trip will be. I will be in PISMO next weekend so if you can make it down there let me know. Later-
