2x4 Scrambler Sprocket Change?
#1
Has anyone that owns a 2x4 scrambler 500 changed the front sprocket to a smaller one for more low end power. I was thinking about going down one tooth which is suppose to equal 3 in the back. Just wondering if you were happy with the outcome and how much of a noticeable difference was there?

I'm looking for more low end on my scrambler also, if I go with a larger sprocket in the rear, will I have to replace my stock chain? Approximately how many teeth can I move up without having to change the stock chain? I ride in the mud alot and am looking to put 24" bear claws on the rear, so I would like to substantially increase the low end. (Enough to compensate for the larger tires and still gain lowend.) If I were to change the front sprocket, I was going to go from a 13t to an 11t. In theory, this would accomplish what I want;but I do not want to stress my drivetrain

When I say drive trian I mean sporckets and chain no the acctual tranny.

I respect your wisdom and experience, speedwerx. Tell me what you think.
I figured that if I went with a larger sprocket on the back I would have to buy the sprocket and the chain. So what I decided was to just try a smaller front sproket. If I messed up my chain or rear sprocket, no big deal, I would need to buy a new chain and sprocket anyway if I replaced the rear sprocket. Also, changing the front sproket was the cheapest way to play with getting more low end. (I think I will like it, but I am not sure)
My main concern is getting more lowend. I love my scrambler but I find that the gears just feel a little tall. I know I will loose top end but I would rather loose top end and have more low power.
Any advise? Also, I want to put 24" bearclaw tires on the back and still gain lowend. I was thinking of moving from a 13t front sprocket to a 11t.

What about my sramy being a 4X4, am I playig with fire changing sprockets and messing up the front to rear wheel ratios? Like I said, I only use the 4X4 when I have to, I never leave it engaged for long periods.
