SHOULD I GET THE 2005 HO LE SPORTSMAN
#1
Trying to decide, should I go with the 500 HO sportsman or the 500 HO LE. The LE looks awsome but what does it look like after the bushes and the mud are done with that base coat clear coat paint. It is $600 more more the LE. You get the paint and the nice wheels. I have the 400 04 SP now and it has been a great bike for my first bike. Any suggestions

current program sucks- no winch offer and lousey finance offer. TERRIBLE time to buy a Polaris ATV.
if you remember last month they offered $69 Warn2.5 ($400+ value) PLUS 2.9% financing.
if i were you, i'd wait untill the end of July to see if there are any respectable incentives/offers. keep in mind the 2006 models are right around the corner at that time.
i'd like to see you buy a 500EFI in early Aug.
spend that extra $600 on a 2006!

The atv's look so pretty on the showroom but after 100 miles or so of real use they just don't quite shine up as pretty as when they were sitting on the dealerships floor. I've got some black plastic on my 2005 and it's a little scratched up with about 170 miles on it.
I'm with mtpockets, get a 2006 efi.

i have seen the black LE, and it looks sweet. BUT that whole painting the plastic concept is a joke. i cant believe that they would offer that when they have black plastics on other models. they have the capability to make actual black plastics.
ran into some guys last weekend that had em out for their first run. both of them had bumped a tree in various places and the paint just popped off right where the plastic bent. it just seems like a bad idea. they do looks sweet tho.

I had the same delema last weekend, trying to decide between the LE and a regular. Look at my pictures and you will see that I chose the LE. In my case I got the LE for the same price that all the dealers around here were selling the regular 500's for. I guess I will see how the painted surface stands up.
The LE is by far the best looking 500 that I have seen while doing my looking. If the 500 is EFI next year I will just have to give this one to the wife and get me a new one.

Hey scramblerXrated,
I have an '05 SP 500 "LE" and in my opinion it is by far, the sweetest looking quad on the market.
I know exactly where you're coming from Kingsclear because I also had concerns about what it would look like after a few runs in the bush, but now that I've been there, I can honestly say that it's holding up MUCH better then I thought. I wash it and wax it (twice) after every ultra-dirty ride and I swear to God guys, it still looks just like it did the day it came out of the showroom !!
I've been through thick brush where I grind my teeth thinking of what it'll look like after I wash it and it still looks new after a good wash. Other then tiny scuff marks where my wife's feet rub against the rear fender (doesn't shine as bright as the rest of the bike), it has no scratchs whatsoever !!
Now don't get me wrong, I know that in time, my quad WILL look like every other older quad out there. My point is simple........ The black holds up way better then everyone thinks. In fact I would say that so far, the "LE" does NOT show scratchs or scuffs more then any other quad. At least that is my experience so far.
Keep in mind that I have never ran into a tree as stated by "scramblerXrated".

i think ANY quad running into trees will cause damage to any surface, painted or not........................ and BTW, if your running into trees you had better take a safety course or lay-off the 'juice'! LOL!
