i just changed my oil last ride and ive probably got about 5 hrs riding on it but the oil is already pretty black i let it drain for about half an hour and it was when i was putting on another starter clutch so i wiped what little but i seen in the bottom of the case out. so im wondering if +this is normal or am i getting a bit of blowby on my rings? i havent done a leakdown test or anything i figured i d get a few suggestions first

i think color depends on how much heat its been exposed to, if you run your engine really hard and always having it wound up theres motre heat.

This is going to sound stupid, but did you change the filter?

yeah changed the oil changed the filter , cranked it a couple of times to clear the pipes. that is why i was wondering if im getting some blow by in my rings and it is causing my oil to change color so quickly.i rode it a little hard that nite but no worse than usual. like i said it was only one ride but now i m taking off the other side to polish it and i noticed how dark it was cuz i was going to reuse it. 5 bucks a quart gets pretty expensive.maybe i didnt get it all out though but im pretty sure i did. i mean the starter side case was completely off the drain plug was removed and the dipstick was out also. and i cranked it also.a couple times

When you say "I cranked it also", do you mean that you cranked the engine with the electric starter while the engine oil was drained?

yes i took the plug wire off then i cranked it a few turns to blow out what was in the pump also, maybe four or five turns ,it just blows out a couple of blobs of oil when i do it . i just like it to be all clean and empty when i put fresh oil in.

It is not a good idea to try to pump the old oil out of the system. It will cause permanent engine damage quickly. By most conservative estimates 90 % of all engine wear comes from start-up. Using this method will increase the damage exponentially.
