IM LOOKING IN TO GETTING A NEW ATV IV BEEN RIDING FOR ABOUT 7 YRS. I CURRENTLY OWN A Z400 BUT IM GETTING MORE POWER HUNGRY AND WANT TO GET SOMTHING WITH MORE POWER. THE FRIENDS I RIDE WITH TELL ME TO GO WITH THE BANSHEE CUZ OF THE POWER AND OVER-ALL TOP SPEED. THEN OTHER PPL SAY THE YFZ450 IS THE WAY TO GO. I PERSONALLY THINK BOTH ARE GREAT atvS BUT THE HIGHMAINTANCE OF A TWO STROKE MAKE ME A BIT UN SURE. are banshee'S REALLY THAT HARD TO MAINTAIN. The more you modify it the more the chances are that something will go wrong.
The more you put it under pressure the more chances are something will go wrong.
The longer you put it under pressure the more chances are something will go wrong.

When something does go wrong, many times you can fix them yourself.

And sometimes you need a professional help.

2 strokes are more fun to fix and also easier to fix.

Regards,

Charles Owner of 97 Banshee with many mods from previous owner and myself.

Personally I'd keep your Z400 and use the money to upgrade it big time... Because Both those bikes are fairly uncomforable suspension wise and with the 3000 or more dollars you save you can make your Z tear apart Banshees and YFZs

YOU SHOULD JUST RIDE BOTH AND GET THE ONE YOU LIKE THE MOST CAUSE THAT WOULD BE THE BEST THING YOU COULD DO THEN YOU KNOW YOU WOULD HAVE THE BEST BIKE FOR YOU CAUSE YOU TRIED THEM BOTH AND CHOSE THE ONE YOU LIKED THE MOST, WHICH, WOULD BE THE BEST ONE FOR YOU

or you could just buy both

my vote is obvious

i like 4 strokes because i like there sound better and there torque, like kraw said pick what you like, i would pick the yfz450 its faster and already souped up, and reliable

I used to have a Z-400, one of the most reliable and best bikes I have ever had but now I've got a banshee, overall I've ridin both a 450 and a Shee, both excellent bikes, but If you want something for just speed go for a Banshee, 450's are fast but not as fast as my Shee, I really like the 450's, a sweet bike to be that fast for stock, like blindside said I'd keep your Z-400(i miss mine)
