Hi guys,
Here is my question. I have a yamaha 660r raptor. Its a 2001 model. I have a small problem. When the atv is cold it want start with the "electric start" starter. It has to be pushed off. ( I only have to push a matter of feet), However after the atv has been crunk the first time and warms up it will then crank with the starter everytime as long as the atv is warm . Any ideas of what is wrong or how to make it start cranking witht he electric start the first time? Any help would be appreciated.

 

Sounds like you need a new battery.

 

no, thats just it, the battery is fully charged
and will spin the starter flawlessly. It just want crank until you push it off one time. Thanks for your responce however

 

is there any power going to the starter, when you push the start button

 

yeah, The starter spins it just want crank kinda sounds like its not firing, i changed plug and still no help. As long as you push it off it will crank fine.

 

sounds like your starter gear might not be catching then. take it off and inspect it.
