I haven't been able to find out how to improve the power on my son's 2005 Raptor 50. I have adjusted the throttle adjustment screw all the way out, but it hits the rev limiter really quick. The dealership told me that there is a restrictor plate that could be removed. Does anyone know where this restrictor plate is or any other way to speed up this lil' machine?[img]i/expressions/face-icon-small-confused.gif[/img]

 

Sell your raptor quick you should be able to get 1500.00 for it

 

Your telling me there is no restrictor plate behind the foam air filter like there is on the raptor 80? It sure made a big differance when I took it out.[img]i/expressions/face-icon-small-shocked.gif[/img]

 

Thanks for the info. My Son is only 4, but was asking for the future. I also have a 2 yr old daughter that could ride the Raptor 50 once my son outgrows it.

 

I bought the CDI of ebay for about 100 bucks. It is improved by maybe 5 mph. I put an 18 inch tire on. More top end less bottom end.

 

You got the idea dad.... use it for what it is intended... very slow learning machine.... then move up as he gets older and able to handle more machine. Not sure there is a restrictor on teh 50, but a quick way to tell is go online to Yamaha's online parts system, and look it up. Probably going to be in the front fender /bodywork section... that is the picture they have it on for the 80. A thin piece of plastic on top of air cleaner.
