How much difference between winch makers?
#1
I just purchased an '05 sportsman and am in the market for a winch. I know polaris has warn winches for their machines but I've seen them alot cheaper in RMATV, such as the summit and tusk brands. Has anyone had any luck with the other brands, what's your thoughts? Thanks!

Just bought a Mile Marker winch last week. Haven't heard too much about their ATV winch, but they do supply the military Hummers with hydrolic winches. The whole set up (winch, mount, remote and wiring) was 100 bucks from a friend who had bought the full size for his truck. They gave him the ATV winch free. I guess time will tell how good it is. I plan on getting stuck a lot more now.

All I can tell you is that the warn 2.5 I have has been bulletproof. It has been submerged in all sorts of mud and water, pulled out 100's of quads and has been abused badly, and never any maintinance done to it. I have not had a problem in two years with it. I would buy a warn again based off what i have seen so far. Just my 2 cents worth.

Just put a warn 2.5 on my neighbor's Kodiac That is one nice winch
I have a champion winch on my Z400 It has been used a few times and no problems
Kevin108, to answer your weight/jumping question, mine weighs about 16 lbs total (home built mount). It compressed the shocks 1/2 inch. I just adjusted the shocks It still doesn't keep the front end grounded for long
