Default Lt 80 problem-won't start

I am frustrated and need some help. I am trying to rebuild a LT 80 that has has some rough care. I had the top end re-done and have started it in the garage. I removed the tank and cleaned the chassis. I also replaced a few other minor things. When I put tank back on it has not started since. Any ideas? It has got to be something simple since there is not much to it. I will admit I am a rookie at two cycle engines. It is getting fire. The bowl on the carb is full. (at least it drains fuel when the bowl drain screw is opened) My $60 suzuki manual lists the 1.) Clogged fuel tank cap 2.) Clogged or defective fuel **** 3.) Defective float value and 4.) Clogged fuel pipe or defective vacuum line. First off the carb was overhauled when the top end was done. All of the 4 items seem to be ok. I assume the petcock is ok if the bowl has fuel. The only thing I can think of is maybe some kind of vaccum problem. There is three hoses on the side of the carb (right side as you sit on machine). One is the fuel line, one is for the vacuum to the petcock, and the third appears to be a line open to the air. Is this correct on the third line? Please, this is getting frustration and I would appreciate any help available.
Thanks in advance.

i think this happened to us one time take the tank back off and make sure you dint tear any wiring by the front bollts on the right side.i no you just rebuilt it but check the comp. esp if you used a weisco the seize the rings .we allways use suz for this reason.also u may want to take the carb back off and on the bottom there is a black rubber piece that covers the the jets take this off you don't need it .this also causes prob as it doesnt let the fuel into the jets.also you did have the arrow on the piston facing back?

As for the wiring I think it is all ok since it is getting fire. (plug sparks when out and grounded). Compression seems to be great since what I think is happening is that it is flooding. With the plug in the starter will hardly turn it over. Take the plug out and it shoot gas (something I'm sure can't be right). My gas tank petcock has three positions. "Res", "on", and "pri". When I remove the line at the carb it does the following. PRi runs gas on floor. "On" or "res" I get a drip out of the line, small but steady. I have even tried to start the thing with fuel in the bowl and the line unhooked. Still no luck.

yea pri will be direct the other 2 work off of vacum it sounds like the needle and seat are sticking as this is what will cause the gas to fill the cyl up.you didnt have the head shaved by any chance did you i had a guy shave mine and it wouldnt crank over unless the plug was out.to much comp.it only takes a little piece of dirt and them carbs screw up.

you really should put a guage on for comp they need at least 100 pounds to fire.

I do have a new chapter. I searched back in the old forum listings and found one way back in 2003 that described a similar problem. LT80 said to just pull the plug, blow out all the gas, and then hold the throttle wide open until it starts. ya know he was right. it did start but ran at full throttle and blew lot of junk out the tail pipe. I guess it is time to go into the carb. I know there must be fuel in the crankcase. Any idea how to get it out?
