Default YFZ450 or 700R For Dunes?

Thinking of getting a new quad and will be mostly using it for dune riding. Read a few reviews on 700r, looks like it might be perfect dune bike. 450 will wind up quicker and hit a lil harder but 700 will have more top end. Anyone have opinions on the better dune quad out of the two? Thanks

I own a YFZ, and rode my cousins Rap, IMO I thought YFZ was alot easier to throw around, then the Rap, maybe the weight difference, or was probably because I'm used to my bike. It rode okay through the dunes, but I still like my YFZ better.

i had a yfz and it ran great in the dunes the last information released on the new raptor showed it was the top dawg all around and is the best quad for dunes etc... but i think honestly either one your happy with... i choose the raptor 700r thats why i sold my yfz for it ;-)

Vinny, you buying your 700r locally? I live in Calif. too but have yet seen anything cheaper than $7693 OTD for the new Raptor

the guess off the top of my head would probably have to be the rap 700, but nobody knows for sure, it could be the biggest pile out there * highly doubt it * but both of them are surely gonna be sweet machines

IN my opion yamaha is leaving honda in the dust as far as sport atvs go. And as for which is better out of the YFZ and 700R i'm not really sure. i THink you will be able to fix the raptor up to beet a yfz, but stock for stock i think the yfz will just excellerate a tad bit quicker but the raptor with it fuel injection will eventually come up beside and pass the YFZ.. But thats just my opion as for me i am selling my modded yfz for the new 700 as soon as my dealer gets on in.. Hopefully you all are right about being here the 18 because i cant wait till i get mine

I think you can throw a YFZ around easier in the dunes because of it's size and weight, but it'll be easy to replace the piston and cam in the 700R, along with the pipe and remapping you'll have a faster and better hillclimber than the YFZ. Of course then you might want to put a +4 swingarm on that badboy. Hopefully the EFI will handle internal mods with no problem, we should find out fairly soon.
