The Rock God revisited...
#1
The last time I rode this trail with the dreaded "Rock God" it got the best of me and my friends had a good laugh at my expense; I laughed right with them, too. It was funny.
Right before I had my turn with the rock my friend, Steve hit a rock on his new Traxter and just about drove it over the side of the trail. In fact when I caught up to him he was completely off of the trail with his Traxter pointed down hill. The only thing that saved his bike was some brush that was holding it back. I wasn't laughing because it wasn't funny...at the time, anyway.
It took five of us to get that heavy beast back on the trail. Steve was relieved that we had saved his new bike, he was unhurt and everything was good with the world.
Later on down the trail after they pulled my scrawny *** out from under my bike Steve hits another rock and drives his Traxter right up some scrub oak and flips it over onto the trail...now that was funny folks. It was one of those, "you had to be there" times, and knowing Steve would help, too.
Steve has rode everything: motorcycles, snowmobiles, Quads, his whole life and knows what he's doing; that's why it was funny, that and the fact that he was so proud of this new Traxter that he had just crashed...twice.
It was so dry that day the dirt was like talcum powder. We knew we were having fun after we got off that trail when we looked at Garth, the guy who rolled his bike at the Rock God, and all his teeth were brown from smiling...that made us laugh even more.
Enjoy your ride, laugh, have fun. Life is too short to to be afraid you might have to change your Dio-pers and live a little...
Nothing wrong with being safe, though, as always: "Wear your saftey gear."
