Lectron wins battle

Im still having trouble with this 48. Is this a drag race only carb? Im beginning to think its worthless to me. I have tried just about everything under the sun to get it at least operable. First it was the throttle being to hard at the start then wide open after you get it past the bump. You almost had to lean forward to keep the front end down just taking off from a stop. I richened the needle up half a turn. Improved throttle, smoked like my old chevy. Bogged off idle. played with the idle mix, no change. Leaned out the needle no change. back to stiff throttle. Ive lubed cables, routed and rerouted the cable. no change. Took it out yesterday and got dumped off the the back due to the hard spot in the throttle. Im really frustrated and my a$$ hurts! I have read and reread the instructions. I would just put the stock one back on but Randall said the jets wouldnt be big enough besides I gave the throttle and cable to a friend in need. Ive talked to two local ATV mechanics and neither a have a clue or were willing to try to figure it out. Im really at a loss here guys.

scatterbrain, is there a dyno close by to where u live.? i just got mine off the dyno and picked up close to 5 H.p by just getting it tuned in. when i was on the dyno i turned the idle mixure screw in and out and didnt see any change on my air fuel mixture reading. biggest difference i seen was with the needle..1/2 a turn on it made a big difference..u just dont want to go to lean on the needle, it will inhance the suck shut problem right off idle..

I have been looking for a dyno around here but no one knows how to tune this thing. Sandbomber gave me a number to a guy that was willing to try but doesnt have much experience with 4 strokes. I heard to many horror stories about TVI so Im not willing to take it there. I really wanted to get this thing running right, before Dunefest. As it sits now its Dangerous to try to even load it the truck. I tried richening it up a quarter at a time and the throttle does get better but it smokes quite a bit and wants to bog out. Does yours smoke alot when you wick the throttle open and Do you still have the suck shut problem? Ive turned the needle so many times now I dont know where it is now. I cant tell any difference with air/fuel screw either

Carb tuning sucks. It sounds like you are far off from where they set it at for you which probably wasn't that far off. I wouldn't waste your money on a dyno tune unless it is done by someone that knows that lectron. If it were me I would hand my bike Eric or Randall when you meet up with them at dunefest and say here, fix this! They could probably get it spot on in less then 10 minutes.

I had that same hard spot at the beginning of the throttle but i cured mine by opening up the top of the moose throttle and making sure when you open the throttle wide open the cable falls right between the notch on the trottle cable adjustment. it was real hard you had to hit the gas hard to get it past that point. as far as idle mine will idle at 1800 rpms for about 20 seconds then you have to give her a little gas then she smoothes right out agan. My first ride was pretty crazy also.

I keep hearing all of these horror stories that people are having with the Lectron. I bolted my 48HV Lectron right on my bike as it came from HPR and I have ZERO issues with this carb....I sure hope you can get it lined out.
