Hate to say it but im probably gonna ditch my hondas for one. Yamaha has built the ultamite quad for me. This is what ive been waiting for. Anyone buy one yet or ridden one? Im probably gonna make my final decision in the fall. Hope this thing holds up to some abuse.

no reverse on yfz. Needed where i ride. Tight trails and tight spots to get out of here. Besides the 06 Raptor 700r has suspension and brakes from the yfz450. Plus i want EFI. No more messing with jets. I love electical stuff so im not affraid of something goin wrong. But like i said i wont make a decision till the fall. I havent seen what the 06 trx450r is gonna be like yet.

yea true no more jets but now fuel injectiors ;-) the efi works great however if you mod it up and stuff you'll haveta put bigger injectors in. as well they had a problem with the fuel pumps already on them i was going to get one til i heard that.... i have a yfz and ride a lot of trails too and i have yet to use or need a reverse, i guess if its that hairy then get a kodiak or something of that nature IMO

hmmm, the man has all the right to want a very bad efi raptor...injectors are easy and a nice HP upgrade that is more of a plug and play than a try over and over til u think u have the right jetting...
and i love it when someone without a reverse bike says, "well i trail ride all the time and have never needed it" i dont care who you are or where u ride, because u will always need reverse because for one, i know im not the only one that has gone down a hill trying to find a new trail to only find a dead end...but seeing that its 90degrees out and sweatin my butt off, i guess hoping off the bike to yang the heck out of it till i can turn around is fine...so i wouldnt go recommending a kodiak to a guy thats just wanting some leisure...IMO

the fuel pump problem affected 12 quads and they were all called back befor they even got to the dealers.. i know someone on this fourm allready baught one i forgot who. The Raptor 700 is an awsome quad, it handles almost as good as a YFZ 450 with open-class power and tourqe and reverse. Its the ultimate quad to me. and as for the fuel injectors, sure, when you start modding the hell out of it you might need to go up a size, but its not like jets, you just put in a bigger injector and the computer will decide how much fuel to run out of it. their not like jets. once again i think the raptor 700 is the ultimate quad, for where i ride atleast, trails and sand pits its #1

I bought a 700 friday before last, it was having the recall repaired. It isn't an entire fuel pump replacement, one small piece of it, and I don't know wich one, is being replaced on all the 700's. After all the testing was done, the part showed more wear than Yamaha would have liked, so they replaced it with a more heavy duty part. I am picking it up wednesday morning. I would have picked it up tommorrow, but I'm a firefighter, and I work my 24hr shift tuesday. I agree with ya, as far as the reverse goes. Some of the places I ride the reverse is very important, especially when cutting out new trails. I use reverse at least four or five times every time I'm out. I've had several bikes in the past without reverse, and several with it. For me personnally, if I can get the performance of a racebike made for the trail, then reverse is the way to go. I'll be wearing it out wednesday, I'll let you know how she does.
