MY RUBICON BEAT A 2000 SP 500 IN A DRAG RACE
#1
This past Saturday the 14th our club was invited to Sinclairville, N.Y. to see the new 650 Prairie. The machine is very impressive to look at. Anyways this post is about racing my Rubicon against a 2000 SP 500. His machine had a clutch kit and Supertrapp pipe on it. We were talking about our machines after the Kawasaki demo and He suggested a drag race between his machine and mine. I let a friend use my machine since I was quite a bit heavier than the guy on the Polaris. They raced up to around 45 mph since the field did allow any more speed than that, and each time the Rubicon won. Even once when the Sportsman got a early start on the Ruby, it caught back up to the 500 and passed it. I knew the machine ran good, but did not expect that against a modified 500 Sportsman. In a longer run I am not sure what would happen, but this really impressed me. I am not bashing Polaris, in fact we own 2 Explorers and are very happy with them.

The 650 Prairie sounds nice and throaty, not to loud though; like nothing I have ever heard on a quad. After the guy took the machine down off the display stand he did 2 passes in a field. This machine is faster than any sport-utility I have ever seen. I think Kawasaki has a winner here. The man doing the presentation said when Kawasaki first put one together it went 75 mph and they had to slow it down. He said it would go 65 mph. The off the line acceleration was something to see when he did the 2 passes!
