went to start up the 400 for the first time in 2 weeks turned over real weak a few times then died and just started clicking, i think that the clicking was coming out of the solonoid so i am wondering if i need a knew 1? tried to reacharge my batttery and it didnt take a charge after 4 hours in my charger that usually only takes about 20 mins

I would try to jumpstart your quad by jumping it off a car. If it fires, it's not your solenoid, but your battery. That sounds exactly like what mine did when the battery died. So jump it like you would a car (I've done it plenty) and that way, if it doesn't work, you know it's not your battery...if it does fire, then it is the battery.

wont jump, solonoid just clicks realy harsh. so it is the solonoid thats bad rite? not something causing it to click

 

touch the two main posts(terminals) on the relay with some insulated pliers the starter should spin..if it does the relay is bad if it doesn't its your battery

my guess is its your battery...they don't take charge very well after they have gone dead

 

its the battery...this happend to me many times before and i hear the same sound you are describing...charge the battery and see what happens...well at least it sounds like the battery to me...
