Default Scrammy 500 Relay Shot?

My diagnosis has led me to the relay/solenoid, but I'm looking for confirmation. If I turn on the ignition, the neutral light will oscillate with no particular pattern between on with full strength and about half-lit. Same goes for the headlights and tail-lights if I start the machine by shorting past the relay. If I try to start normally, the relay makes a lot of buzzing and clicking noises, but no crank. There seems to be a ground fault in the relay, but not a full ground fault because the machine doesn't die and the electrical system doesn't totally croak.

Am I overlooking something? Is this a known issue? Am I looking in the right place?

Thanks!
Matt

Put it on the charger when it wouldn't fire right away. Battery was completely up to snuff...

Try putting power directly to the starter.
If you need to get a new solenoid a lawn tractor one for $14 will work, do a search Big Bad Scrambler had the part #.
