Default Expensive recall for Kawasaki.

I don't think all of this has been put in a thread before, pardon me if any of it is redundant.

I was at Ashland Cycle Sales talking to one of the parts guys. He told me that Kawasaki was allowing them $150 in labor per unit. The Kawasaki website says that they are recalling approx. 155,000 units. That is a lot of freakin' money!

He also told me that the "kits" would include a 2 knuckles, 2 wheel bearings, 2 A-Arms. He told me the only way to get a balljoint from Kawie was to buy a lower control arm (A-Arm in layman's). I don't know how much money it costs Kawie to produce those parts but, this is starting to get expensive.

He said that they were going to ship each dealer enough kits to fix 50% of the units that dealer sold. That is why Kawie wants you to take it back to the selling dealer. Ashland is not my selling dealer, so if I want them to fix it, I have to wait a while.

The lady I spoke to on the recall line told me that it doesn't mater how you bought the ATV, the unit is covered. It doesn't matter if you are the first owner or the 5th. There was some controversy surrounding that topic, so I thought I would add that clarifying point.

I moved since buying my quad so, I didn't get a recall letter. If you haven't gotten yours by now, you need to call the recall line @ 1-866-802-9381 and update your address. If you bought it from someone else, you need to call them and give them the new owner's information.

I think that the 150 per unit is not correct. I just had my 05 BF650 doen yesterday and the shop told me that KAW was authorizing 2 hours for each job. I dont think that KAW will give their dealers 75 an hour as I am sure that KAW gets a cut rate on labor anyway.

The guy at the dealership said that Kawasaki was giving the dealers $150 per unit for 2 hours labor. I don't know myself, that is what he told me.

Props to Kawasaki for doing the right thing by acknowledging the problem and correcting it free of charge to all owners regardless of warranty status.

Certain other manufacturers who shall remain nameless <cough>suzuki<cough>should take notice.

I took mine down Friday. 2500 miles and everything is still tight as it was new. I'm a little surprised at the recall they have had 46 complaints and 3 injuries according to CNN. That is not much for 150,000 machines.
My dealer said 2 hours @75 per 150.00 labor was what they were getting per machine.

If you ask me the BF750 has some much worse issues like tie rods breaking with ease.
Also Props to Kawasaki for doing the right thing.

I'm starting to get angry. My dealer still hasn't gotten any recall parts. Hopefully they come soon as I don't want to be worried while I'm out riding.
