what do you guys think about the honda rancher as a used atv for a low budget guy? I was also on ebay looking at the ranchers, and there were a lot for sale compared to the yamaha kodiaks. Is there something people dislike about such as not having a choice of 2x4 or 4x4, or is it that the people dont like the option of not having neutrel, high or low gear? Please let me know what you guys think.

The Rancher is a big seller and it is considered an entry level 4x4 there fore you will see a good number going up for sale. A lot of people buy them to get into atving and then begin to want a larger machine so the for sale sign gets strapped on...
They are a good solid machine, the ES has had a few issues but nothing I would be too concerned about. As for the nonswitchable 4x4, it is not a big deal if you ride rough trails and are not into sliding. If you ride places and want to slide the aftermarket unlocker is proven and simple to install.

 

Mine steers beetter in 4x4 on the trail. In the parking lot or doing yard work is when I put it in 2 wheel.
