Default Bent swing arm (pix)

whats up guys, i'm the new guy here and i have a question about my 02 banshee that i just got. i noticed the quad leaned so i finally found the damaged, heres a link http://www.dumptrailersales.com/tilt.htm, i was thinking of heating and straighting out the brackets, but is there anything i should know? i don't think the axle is bent, i rides smooth just out of alignment.

any sugestions?

thanks

I'll check out ebay, but i don't like buying off ebay, you really never know what your going to get. so if you could give me some links that would be great.

the axle seems to be bent about 3/4 of an inch, still rideible, i didnt notice any shaking or wobbling, think i should leave the axle be? since it's my first quad in years i would think i'm likely to bend it again.

But i do want to get the swing arm straight, do you think its possible after looking at those pix?

thanks

Xavier

You should be able to find a good used swing arm for a good price.

Do you want to go back with stock stuff? Because The is a seller in e-bay that sells extended swingarms, and has a great history on he bay. HERE
If your ever going to mod the rearend now is the PRIME time! You need to trash that chain anyway !

That sucks, but you said you got a good deal on the quad so even having to replace some parts you should be ok. I would try to look for a good used stock arm and axle first, and if you can't find anything then you could get aftermarked arms for less then you can new stock (from my experience). Either way good luck and welcome to the forums!

One more thing I was going to mention is you may want to look close at the rims because if it took a hit hard enough to tweek the axle and swing arm then it may have gotten a rim as well.

Later,
Mike

I think I can get those brackets on the swing arm straight, I was thinking heating them and using some sort of power puller to straighten them out. I work in a steel shop, and that swing arm looks easy to make, if i had the brackets.

but for $200 an extended swing arm doesnt seem bad, after all the labor it might just be less expencive. If i was to get a longer swingarm how long should i go?

I'm, going to try and straighten the axle WITHOUT heat, because heat makes things hard, but brittle. but i'll ride a few mire times, the axle doesnt seem that bad, although it is off by 3/4"

the wheel so far looks straight, I can not tell what happend to this thing to bend it, theres no damage, the only other thing that I noticed was the front right tire is new, related accident or just bad tire? but everything looks fine everywere else.

Good luck, hope you are able to straighten it. I know a guy that just made a plus six for a Rappy (he drag races only) and it turned out pretty good. It is basically like the Honda swing arm set ups, and much easier to adjust anyway.
