First ride 06 z400
#1
Has anybody here riden the 06 z400 yet? I'm planning on getting one soon. A couple people have told me not to waste my moey and get the yfz450. But I don't need the fastest quad, just a fast one with reverse and electric start reasonably priced. I can get the 06 in NY for $5099 plus $200 excise tax. I just want to get an opinion from someone who has ridden one.

warrior guy, check them out shouldn't be too far for you. They carry hondas yamahas and more street water dirt. Chili nice quad,I can't wait. I was looking at a cheapy for my daughter (7) after she saw those pred 90s she said she wouldn't the cheapy if I bought it 'cause she wants the pred 90!!!! What kinda goodies you got. I was thinking of hmf full, intake cam and alba cdi.(Iknow there's much better cdis but albas a good name fairly cheap price) I just got a 89 lt250r a couple months ago.Havent had a quad since I was about 16. Now I'm 27 w/2 kids. I want the simple maintainance of four strokes and man have they come a LONG way. It seems to me when I use to ride if you had a four stroke warrior was the one to have, now on these forums I see people recommending them for the guys looking for something their wife can learn on!!

I just bought the alba Z-400, it came with full exhaust, filter kit, re-jet car. I added nerf,s a/c front bumper, 6-pack (not pictured) and just installed maching seat cover. I will tell you it run,s surprisingly good. I can beat my nieghbor on his V-Force and was beating a guy on a Raptor 660. I had alot of guy,s asking me what kind of quad I had. If you really want to mod it you can get a 470-stroker kit. Had a friend use one at glamis for the weekend and said it was unreal fast!

I just want to be able to keep up with my brothers on the trails as far as speed is concerned. Both my brothers got 400 ex's about the time I got the quadracer. I told my older brother I was going to get the z400, then he went out and bought an 04 yfz 450 (leftover) now my little brother wants to get the 450r. My little brothers 400 ex was faster than my older brothers and I don't think he could stand the thought of both his little brother's having faster quads. I don't really care though I just want to have fun and the ease of reverse. How much for your quad like that? I was on Alba"s site and saw it advertised as close to suzuki msrp but they didn't list the price.

The Z is the best all-around machine there is! And, the engine will hop up real nice, when you are ready for more power.
I think the YFZ is most at home on the track and for high performance "play riding", and it isn't the best choice for trail and cross-country.

Bought the 06 z on friday (9/2) took it on first real ride today. Man I absolutely love this thing. Gotta get skids though. I destroyed the factory swingarm skid. Rotors right through it. And I bent at least 2 of the rims, gotta check it out in daylight. My brother's friends with this guy who's known across the US for his Harley motors. I'm gonna see if he can cut out rings on his water jet to tig weld to the rims to keep them from bending. Instead of all those holes to keep the mud out I'm gonna ask him to put Suzuki LTZ 400 around the ring.
