best raptor gearing for dunes?????

With the setup you got right now I would drop one tooth on the front. You will notice a big difference in the bottom end power and torque. I really didnt notice to much difference on the top end. 1st gear is very very low. 2nd and 3rd are great for beasting up those dunes.

with 22" rears i run 12 up front and 42 in the back. seems to do pretty good in the sand. well i just run that everywhere now. i used to run 12x44 for trails but im to lazy to change sprokets all the time.

Just remember, changing the front means the sprocket will wear out faster than if you were to change out the rear, if you ride trails changing out the rear will require you to shim the skidplate if you run one. Dropping one tooth up front is equal to 2.75 on the rear, I run 22's 12/42, that's a great all around combination, tried 12/44 but 1st was pretty much worthless. It really depends on what tires you're running also, 22's require lower gearing, 20's don't require as low. Changing out a front sprocket is much easier than the rear and you don't have to worry about shiming that skidplate.
