I'm no pro at riding wheelies, but I've started to really get he hang of it. I started off by just popping the front end up in first, and getting used to knowing what it takes to get the front end up. Then get used to feathering the throttle once you get it up, then I started doing the same thing in 2nd. I think 2nd is the best, since it still comes up real easy, but you have more room for error than in 1st. Just be careful, 1st gear on a Raptor will put you on your back in a hurry.

I found that standing up, rather then sitting on the seat, helps me a bit. It seems I have a better feel of the balance point and I can see where I am headed better. However, if you should need to hit the break to keep from going over, that is a bit tricky. Now when I wheelie I sit down and can go till I run out of room. I have gone over plenty of times, and my grab bar is proof of that as it is bent up. It just takes practice and eventually you will feel the balance point. Once you get it, it is a beautiful thing. I like 3rd the best, first and second come up too fast and there is a greater chance of goin over. Eventually you will be able to shift throught the gears while keeping the front up.
